Aperture Intensive

The Ultimate Aperture Training for the Ultimate Photographer

Aperture 2 is here, and with it an improved, faster and smarter photographic workflow. For the professional photographer and the higest-level amateur, it’s the chance to take ultimate control over your images.

But in order to master your images you’re going to need to master Aperture first.

Even though Aperture was designed to be streamlined and as simple as possible, unlocking the features still requires an understanding of both the way that you work, and the way that Aperture works.

The Aperture Intensive class presented by the Aperture Users Network provides a complete understanding of Aperture, through two days of intensive hands-on training.

Compared to Apple’s end-user certification course, this program is an incredible bargain. The Aperture Intensive class is $900 less than Apple’s offering and packs more information and practical information into less time. (Two days as opposed to three for the Apple course.)

This class is perfect for both the Aperture 1.5 user looking to migrate to 2.0 and the brand new user turning to Aperture for the first time. Both will come away with the skills needed to master the new version of Aperture, and take control of your digital workflow.

It’s boot camp for your photography

The Aperture Intensive is a two-day, sixteen-hour class in Aperture taught by the certified instructors of the Aperture Users Network.

It’s a hands-on class, with provided laptops, course materials and sample images.

We start at the beginning, learning Aperture’s interface, and then move on to importing, applying metadata, rating, adjusting outputting and archiving images.

Each step will be a thorough and complete examination of Aperture, looking at the best ways to customize the workflow to fit the needs of the individual photographer.

At the end of the two-day class you’ll be able to run Aperture like a pro, in fact this is the same course we use as the foundation for our own instructors.

But this program isn’t just mastering Aperture, it’s about taking control of your photographic life. We’ll teach you the best organizational practices, the systems of handling your images (both referenced and managed), library organization structure, how to use presets and customization to shave off countless hours and more.

If you’ve been confused on best practices for color management,  image organization, output and archiving this class is for you.

Who is this for?

The Aperture Intensive classes are designed for the serious and/or professional photographer, studio managers and other creatives that require the highest level of training available.

While focused and intense, this class is also designed to be enjoyable—all of our instructors are personable photographers with a long history in digital photography. As a result, it’s a great place to get your general and advanced digital photography questions answered as well.

This sounds too intense, but I still need training, what else do you offer?

The Aperture Users Network also offers the
Digital Photo Road Tour classes which are also held in cities around the country (and internationally). These single-day demonstration classes are designed to give the new digital photographer or newcomer to Aperture a grounding in the digital photographic workflow based around Aperture.

Our training website ApertureSchool.com also lists other events we produce, as well as provides links to Aperture and digital photography training DVDs.

Who are the instructors, and who is the AUN?

The Aperture Users Network is the user association of Aperture-based photographers. Founded in 2007 (after the launch of Aperture 1.5), the AUN provides both free and paid services to members of the Apple-based photographic community. The AUN runs the ApertureProfessional.com website, and provides training classes like the Aperture Intensives and the Aperture Road Tour classes.

Our instructors are Apple-certified trainers and are experienced in digital photography, and topics such as multimedia, video production, programming and more.
